ICAN and the National Rally for Change in New York City

We are very pleased and excited to support our members’ participation in the “National Rally for Change,”  a national movement to improve birth in America. At least 40 cities across the country are holding a “National Rally for Change” on Labor Day, September 3, 2012, to bring awareness to the alarmingly high rates of medically unnecessary cesarean sections and labor inductions. This campaign, organized by ImprovingBirth.org, seeks to educate and empower women with evidence-based information in order to make truly informed choices regarding their maternity care.

Here is the official page for the NY rally:

The rally will take place outside of Beth Israel Hospital on Labor Day from 10 am – Noon. You can RSVP to the event at the link below: https://www.facebook.com/events/110733559072504/

First Meeting of ICAN of Manhattan

ICAN of Manhattan is a new ICAN chapter that is very much needed. We are excited to start a community of support for mothers who experienced both necessary and unnecessary c-sections, preparing for a VBAC or another c-section, or for women who want to get more information and prepare for birth adequately.

If you’re interested in attending our first meeting please contact us at icanofmanhattan@gmail.com.

First meeting will take place this Sunday, July 1st, 4pm, on UWS, 78th St. with Amsterdam Ave. Please contact us for the exact address.

This first meeting will focus on getting to know each other, sharing our stories and brainstorming ideas for finding true VBAC providers in Manhattan.
